Welcome to our family blog! The hard work of others has finally paid off, and we now have a blog, largely to share the pictures of our littlest one, Avalon! She was born March 10th at 10:58 PM in Grandpa and Grandma Pratt's home (where Lisa and John are staying now). Thanks for visiting!

Just Plain Mad

She was ticked because I was trying to take her picture when she wanted a piece of waffle.  I thought this picture was too cute.  Oh, and that is a rug burn on her forehead from an unfortunate spill while I was visiting teaching.  She did a head plant on the sister’s front porch.  Luckily, a rug protected her slightly from the cement.

Mother’s Day

Happy Mother’s Day to all you moms out there.  I want to share a little from our recent visits with our mothers.  First, John’s mother, and then mine.  (These beautiful women are not only our mothers, but they are our children’s Grandmothers.  And, that is a very important job.  They are fabulous at it!)

**********

Grandma Pratt took us to the tulip festival.  It was a beautiful, sunny day and we had a lovely time.

This is Reed reaching his arm through the rock to feel the water coming down the water fall on the other side of the wall.

(Grandma Pratt doesn’t do too well with pollen.  I took this funny picture.  Love you, Ruth!)

*******

Grandma Allen came for a visit all the way from Oregon.  We had a fun time re-arranging my furniture and hanging pictures and she helped me get things looking a little better in my home.

Grandma inspired a fun marshmallow roast.

Yes, that’s NINE (9) ’s’marshmallows.  (As Ivan calls them.)  I don’t think my children get enough sugar.

Grandma also helped the boys make a rope swing on one of our large trees.  They LOVE, LOVE, LOVE the swing!  And, sometimes they do a little team work and have more fun.

*******

Well, we love both of you great Moms.  Thanks for giving birth to John and I.  And, thanks for being Grand Moms to our little munchkins.

My Shiner

It may be my first.  Many of you who know me know that I just don’t do sports.  Never have.  I have many friends and cousins who are way into sports.  They are true “soccer moms” (and/or baseball moms) and that is fine for them, but it has never been my thing.  My poor boys have never even played on a sports team.  So, when there came up an opportunity for “home school baseball”, I thought we might participate.  It is held on a Friday morning for six weeks.  I thought I could handle that.

Well, apparently not.  You see, they put me in charge of the 2-5 year olds and a little four year old had a very strong swing and I ended up with this lovely black eye.  I thought the wiffle ball was safer than a regular baseball.  I was really trying….

The Weapon

(These are very LARGE heavy wiffle balls….)

So, it doesn’t look so bad when my eyes are open.  Just a little like I put way too much magenta and purple eye shadow on.  Calvin keeps saying to me, “Man!  Your eye looks terrible!”  It really does.

So, now I’m official.  Have any of you real soccer moms had an injury to tell about?

–”Coach” Lisa

(five more weeks to go…)
