Welcome to our family blog! The hard work of others has finally paid off, and we now have a blog, largely to share the pictures of our littlest one, Avalon! She was born March 10th at 10:58 PM in Grandpa and Grandma Pratt's home (where Lisa and John are staying now). Thanks for visiting!

On The Farm

This post is NOT for the weak of stomach.  So, if that is you, kindly refrain from reading.  But, farm life is interesting and full of adventure.  I have to share!

We have wonderful friend and farming mentor named Sherrie.  She has horses and offered to help us bring a load of manure for our garden.  We jumped at the chance.  Here are John, Calvin and Sherrie flinging horse dung onto our garden area.  Thanks, Sherrie!

This is another common site around the farm.  We have mice.  I have talked to several folks in the area and it is a bad year for mice.  They are everywhere!  We find them dead just laying on the snow.  And, they come in the house.  GROSS!!  So, we have lots of mouse traps set up around our house and the boys check them frequently.

After we had caught so many we started keeping a tally.  Do you want to know the total we have caught so far….IN OUR HOUSE???

Are you grossed out yet?  I know I am!

Here is one John caught under a bale of straw he was unloading.  He (She??) was a big one!  And ALIVE!

I too have that problem. I got cats(outside). They still are not big enough to take care of the rats in the barn.
